The Spoon Collective
was the original meeting ground for marxists who discovered
the internet and wanted to talk.
The Spoon's relatively loose
moderation meant that all sorts of trends could come together
and interact with a speed and intensity that before could
only have happened in the midst of a vast upsurge.
For a while, all hell broke loose.
By the time that the Spoons closed down their
various marxism lists in May 1998, they had become
the direct and indirect spawning ground
for the "Cambrian Explosion" that created
most of the current major marxist lists. Links are provided for the complete archives for the following Spoon's lists: Marxism, Marxism2, Marxism-and-Sciences, Marxism-Feminism, Marxism-General, Marxism-International, Marxism-News, Marxism-Thaxis. This page also gives the email and listserver address for the following lists: Marxism-International, Marxism-and-Sciences, Marxism-News, Marxism-Ezines, Marxism-Thaxis, Marxism-Psych, Marxism-Unmoderated, Socialism, M_Fem, Marxism, LBO-Talk

Discussion groups concerned with Marxism, socialism, communism (and general progressive politics)
are sprouting at eGroups and OneList like seedlings after a Spring rain. Each month more pop up.
eGroups and OneList offer users the ability to easily search for eLists in various categories.
For example, on eGroups I did a search on
marxism,
socialism and
communism
and came up with 6, 12 and 8 discussion groups respectively.
On OneList, a search under government/liberalism/left-wing yields 62 discussion groups. Also three other categories yielded the following numbers of discussion groups:
